The Mighty Oak Tree

Majestically it stands

Reaching its arms up to the sky

Breeze blowing softly

Rustling the leaves quietly.

Birds nesting in the branches

Singing joyfully

Squirrels chattering

Running to and fro.

It has lived here in this field

As long as any can remember

Maybe since time began

Who’s to say.

The Oak has lived

Through storms, so many

Branches have fallen

Sprouts have blossomed.

Many feathered friends

Have made this tree home

Many children have swung playfully

From its sturdy limbs.

Over the years

Many lovers have picnicked

Sitting on a blanket

Under nature’s canopy.
